West Potomac Park ~ southeast of the Lincoln Memorial
Dedicated 7/27/95 on the 42nd anniversary of the armistice, the memorial design is a triangle intersecting a circle and covers 2.20 acres. A patrol of 19 stainless steel statues make their way toward the Pool of Remembrance. The statues, each weighing 1,000lbs and standing between 7' 3" and 7' 6", were created by Frank Gaylord. To the soldiers right flank is a 164' long black granite wall containing sandblasted photographic images by Louis Nelson.
